About me

Natalie Nuno

Hello! Thanks for checking out my website. My name is Natalie, and I am an illustrator and junior in high school. I created Natalie’s Canvas to share my work and create a space where other young artists can find encouragement and inspiration to pursue their creative careers.

How I Became an Artist

For as long as I can remember, I always loved to draw. I would spend hours upon hours doodling in my notebooks. When I got to high school, I tried acrylic and oil painting. I also experimented with other mediums like charcoal, stencils, spray paint, airbrushing, and graphic design.

When it comes to art, I love it all!

That’s why I plan to pursue art in college. But what’s frustrating is that when people hear I want to major in art, I get confused stares. I’ve encountered countless people who believe art is a hobby and not a serious career. Some have even encouraged me to find a more suitable, stable path for my future.

Fortunately, I have the support of the most important people in my life: my family.

Despite the critics, my parents have always been supportive of my dreams. At every turn, they encourage me and help me find opportunities to further my skills. And no, my parents are not artists. My mother is a lawyer, so she’s the first person you would think would encourage me to follow a more “traditional career.”

I am ever so grateful for my parent’s constant love and support. It’s their encouragement that motivates me to continue my art in college. They’ve given me the confidence to follow my passions, take risks, and continue despite the obstacles and naysayers that may lie ahead of me.

Why I Created Natalie’s Canvas

While I am lucky to have a supportive family, I know that not everyone has the same encouragement. That’s why I created Natalie’s Canvas: to motivate other young artists to pursue their art careers, to remind them their dreams are valid, and to provide the support they need to stay the path.

Through Natalie’s Canvas, I hope to inspire young artists who may have been discouraged from pursuing their passions. Here, your art is accepted and worthy of sharing with the world.
